Almost

I almost got a saman ticket yesterday!

It was at the crossroad of Jln Ampang & Jln Sultan Ismail, in front of the Renaissance Hotel. I was from Dang Wangi / Wisma Denmark part of Jln Ampang, wanting to join Jln Sultan Ismail (Maju Junction bound). Anyway, the light changed from green to yellow. And it was at the point of yellow light I cornered into Jln Sultan Ismail. Of course I knew from experience that traffic policemen where waiting like predators at that corner... But I was confident that I had beat the yellow light, not the red! But the policemen thought otherwise, and I was stopped by one policeman.

"Kak, awk tau tak apa kesalahan akak?" he asked.

"Apa ye kesalahan saya?" I answered innocently.

"Kakak telah langgar lampu merah"

"Masa saya jalan tadi, lampu masih kuning" I defended myself.

"Tak kak, saya stop kereta akak lepas tgk lampu merah."

There was no use arguing with this guy. I made an attempt to defend myself again, but he had already made up his mind. OK, it's okay, saman pun samanlah , I thought to myself, as he was busy taking down details of the car.

"So, macam mana ni kak?" He asked

I shrugged my shoulders with an "all up to you" look.

"Macam tu je kak? Awk nak saya saman awk? Ni sekarang akak dah salah. Kalau akak mintak maaf kat saya tadi, saya dah lepaskan akak"

Not knowing my chances, I just apologised anyway at that point.

"Ha... Boleh pun mintak maaf. Bukannya susah sgt" he patronised.
"Selalu, kite tahan org yg salah, dia nak marah2 kite pulak. Kali ni saya lepas kan akak. Tunggu kereta belakang jalan dulu.. Nanti ape pulak dia ckp saya lepaskan akak" he patronised somemore.

I said my thanks and before leaving, I told him "Saya tak marah kat awak pun tadi kan?" Of course (as KN would agree) I had to have the last say!
