Penchala Link opened yesterday. We were so very excited about it that we wanted to experience it first hand Monday morning. What we didn't know that it officially opened at 2pm.
Anyway, we have been using the Penchala Link ever since. It only takes 5 minutes from Tmn Tun to get to Hartamas! We save 15 minutes from home to the office and we save 20 to 30 minutes from the office to home! Great huh? Well, at least for the first 2 weeks while its free! After that its gonna be RM2!! Then...we'll have to do a cost benefit analysis.

As for the package it still is very much a mystery..........

TRIALS of PARENTHOOD

Last night was truly a test to our parenthood. Idlan did not want to sleep uptill 3.30 am!! He was very cranky and refused to sleep after our endless attempts to pacify him. What made matters worse was that I was sick, my stomach refused to accept any food... I kept vomitting whatever I ate. Actually, Idlan was recovering from the same illness, he had it the previous day (I had to take emergency leave on friday) and I guess I contracted the virus from him. The virus and medication had made him tired and sleepy so he basically slept a lot in the day. So last night he was really tired of sleeping I guess and demanded attention in the middle of the night! Khairul kept bouncing him on his lap... trying to pacify him from 10 pm to 12 am. He didn't want to sleep, nor did he want to play by himself. He wanted to be carried here and there and everywhere, displaying his tantrum when we did not heed to his needs. Patience was running low. Although I was very weak, I rescued Khairul from the wailing Idlan. Even "Barney & friends" didn't seem to make him happy. I attempted to get him to sleep using the "buai". He did sleep for ten minutes before waking up and started crying. It was already 2 am and I was really tired. Khairul came to my rescue and together we tried with our last ounce of patience to get him to sleep. Finally we succeeded (pheeewww!) after so long.

I know there will be more trials of parenthood to test us.. this is only a fraction of it. But I guess the most important thing that we have to remind ourselves is to always be patient. Sabar itu separuh daripada iman. So we just gotta hang in there and take things one step at a time and with much patience.

Can't wait for Monday!!

Huh?! Am I for real??! Who in their right frame of mind can't wait for the weekdays to begin at the start of a weekend? I'm one for Monday Blues actually... every Monday is the toughest morning to wake up and get out of bed. But for this 16th Feb its a different case. Can't wait for 2 things:

1) Penchala Link is opened!!!
2) The loooong awaited 'package' is supposed to be revealed

The Penchala Link which is the final phase of the Sprint Highway is expected to be opened on the 16th. For two weeks it shall be toll-free. This 5.5km link comprises the Taman Tun and Kampung Sungai Penchala interchanges and a 740 metre twin tunnel that cuts through Bukit Penchala. Currently from KLCC we use the road from Jln Ampang to Jln Sultan Ismail. Then we join Jln Kuching uptill the Jln Duta interchange. From there we join part of the PLUS Highway (for about 1km or so) to join the SPRINT Highway. From there we pass thru the Hartamas area and join the SPRINT Damansara Link. Now this is a bottle neck as we have to queue to join the Damansara Link as there is a traffic light there. At times it can be very frustrating because people tend to cut queue (urghh tension...tension). So with the Penchala Link opened, we can simply avoid this bottleneck and cut travelling time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes only (estimation).

The other excitement is the long anticipated package for our upcoming outsourcing of our company's IT department. It has been over a year now since the rumours started about the outsourcing... 16 months to be exact. So its about time we get to see our future. Wonder what will be in store for us. Won't say much about this sensitive issue... lets just wait and see.

In the meantime lets just enjoy the rest of weekend...... Have a good one folks!
Le Tour de Langkawi

This year is Telekom's 7th year (since 1998) hosting the Le Tour de Langkawi race. I'm not an ardent fan of sports thus this kind of sporting event just passes by uneventful in my memory. But this year, I got the oppurtunity to watch the racers first hand!

We were stopping by Petronas TTDI to get some drinks when we saw the commotion. The main road from the Sprint tol Damansara heading towards IKEA was closed and people were lined up by the empty roadside to wait and watch the race. We joined the crowd with full anticipation waiting for the bikers. After 20 minutes, and many many official cars we saw the group of racers. Everybody cheered them on, clapping and waving their hands.

I read from the official website that they are racing from Menara Telekom to Genting Highlands today. That's like 131.6 km with a brutal ascent at the last 25km. Well, good luck mates... may the best man win!

I was really touched reading this forwarded mail I received today. Here, I'd like to share it with you :-

Erti Kehidupan

Hari itu saya nak K.Lumpur, ada hal sikit. Memikirkan highway PLUS sibuk,
saya menyusuri laluan lama. Pekan pertama yang saya lintas ialah
Teluk Intan.

Terasa mengantuk, saya singgah sebentar disebuah restoran di pinggir
pekan itu.Sebaik memesan makanan, seorang kanak-kanak lelaki ? berusia
lebih kurang 12 tahun muncul dihadapan.

'Abg nak beli kuih?' Katanya sambil tersenyum. Tangannya segera menyelak
daun pisang yang menjadi penutup bakul kuih jajaanya.

"Tak apalah di k...abg dah pesan makanan," jawap saya ringkas. Dia
berlalu. Sebaik pesanan tiba, saya terus menikmatinya. Lebih kurang 20
minit kemudian saya nampak kanak-kanak t! adi menghampiri pelanggan lain,
sepasang suami isteri agaknya. Mereka juga menolak, dia berlalu begitu
saja.

"Abg dah makan, tak nak beli kuih saya?" katanya selamba semasa menghampiri
meja saya.

"Abg baru lepas makan dik, masih kenyang lagi ni," kata saya sambil
menepuk-nepuk perut.

Dia beredar, tapi cuma setakat dikaki lima. Sampai disitu, di meletakkan
bakulnya yang masih sarat. Setiap yang lalu ditanya... "Tak nak beli kuih
saya bang..Pakcik...kakak atau makcik." Molek budi bahasanya!

Mamak restoran itu pun tidak menghalng dia keluar masuk ke premisnya
bertemu pelanggan. Sambil memerhati, terselit rasa kagum dan kasihan
dihati saya melihatkan betapa gigihnya dia berusaha.

Saya buka pintu, membetulkan duduk
dan menutup pintu. Belum sempat saya menghidupkan enjin, kanak-kanak tadi
berdiri di tepi kereta. Dia menghadiahkan sebuah senyuman. Saya turunkan
cermin, membalas senyumanya. Saya lihat umurnya lebih kurang 12 tahun.

"Abg dah kenyang, tapi mungkin ang perlukan kuih saya untuk adik-adik
abang, ibu atau ayah abang. katanya petah sekali sambil tersenyum. Sekali
lagi dia mempamerkan kuih dalam bakul dengan menyelak daun pisang
penutupnya.

Saya tenung wajahnya, bersih dan bersahaja. Terpantul persaan kesian di
hati. Lantas saya buka dompet, dan menghulurkan sekeping not merah RM10.
Saya hulurkan padanya.

"Ambil ni dik! Abang sedekah..! . tak payah abang beli kuih tu" saya
berkata ikhlas kerana perasaan kesian meningkat mendadak. Kanak-kanak itu
menerima wang tersebut, lantas mengucapkan terima kasih terus berjalan
kembali ke kaki lima deretan kedai. Saya gembira dapat membantunya.
Setelah enjin kereta saya hidupkan, saya mengundur. Alangkah terperanjatnya
saya melihat kanak-kanak itu menghulurkan pula RM10 pemberian saya itu
kepada seorang pengemis yang buta kedua-dua matanya.

Saya terkejut, lantas memberhentikan semula kereta, memanggil kanak-kanak
itu. "Kenapa bang nak beli kuih ke?" tanyanya. "Kenapa adik berikan duit
abg tadi pada pengemis tu? Duit tu abg bagi adik!" kata saya tanpa menjawap
pertanyaannya. "Bang saya tak boleh ambil duit tu. Mak marah kalau dia
dapat tahu saya mengemis. Kata mak kita mesti bekerja me! ncari nafkah
kerana Allah berikan tulang empat kerat pada saya. "Kalau dia tahu saya
bawa duit sebanyak itu pulang, sedangkan jualan masih banyak, mak pasti
marah. Kata mak, mengemis kerja orang yang tak berupaya, saya masih kuat
bang!" katanya begitu lancar.

RM25. Dia mengucapkan terima kasih dan terus berlalu. Saya perhatikan dia
sehingga hilang daripada pandangan. Dalam perjalanan ke K.Lumpur, baru
saya terfikir untuk bertanya statusnya. Anak yatim kah?? Siapakah wanita
berhati mulia yang melahirkannya?? Terus terang saya katakan, saya beli
kuihnya bukan lagi atas dasar kesian, tetapi kerana rasa kagum dengan
sikapnya yang dapat menjadikan kerjayanya satu penghormatan. Sesungguhnya
saya kagum dengan sikap kanak-kanak itu. Dia menyedarkan saya, siapa kita
sebenarnya!!!
What I did last weekend..

This is a long due post judging from the title and the day today - Friday! - that's like nearly a new weekend again.

Went to see the new mother Najiha and her little baby girl Sarah Adriana (Ain, that's like a combination of your nieces name!). After hours or labour, jiha says its all worth it at the sight of her baby girl (yeapp folks... what are you waiting for?!). My exact feelings the first time I saw my Idlan. Jiha had given birth about two weeks earlier than expected and was relieved that it was finally over! Well... at least the labour partlah... now raising 'em babies is a whole new journey for me, for her, and all the new parents out there.

Also, I did not miss the chance to bid farewell to Ain at the airport. Although I must say I was very impressed with how calm she was there. Sorry Ain for underestimating you (hehe!). Can't say that I will miss you can I? Like you say, cos its already been 10 mths of missing you already. Anyways, I do wish you all the luck and good health in pursuing your dreams.

Activities this coming weekend? Oh well... will be here in KL... probably go paint the town red! ahahaaa..
Ohya! Got Kin's invite to vege out with the gals at her house this Saturday. OH boy, that'll be fun!

So am I a bad blogger? Hah... its been like ages since the last update.. from raya puasa to raya haji! Beat that!! :-)

Now that we got a laptop of our own and with the wireless internet connectivity from our room, blogging for me may be put into gear again. Emphasis on 'may' as I am really bad at keeping resolutions / self initiated promise.

My boy, Idlan is now nearly 7 months. Fuhh... how time flies. He is in the process of sitting / crawling, not sure which one he'll do first. His current attempts basically makes him move backwards rather than forward. And he makes so much loud n babbling sounds.

Like a first time letter to a long lost friend, you only write briefly... save other ideas for next time.... karang takde modal pulak , ye tak? Till then, I shall leave you with Idlan's latest pix taken a few weeks back using our new Canon digital camera.
