SECURITY
I was at a bookstore at One Utama the other day browsing through some books when suddenly I heard someone shouted very loudly. I looked up from the book I was browsing through to see what the commotion was. A man in his mid-20s was very angry with the staff at the counter. Everyone in the
shop was staring at him including people passing by the shop. He shouted loudly in frustration and anger... Who wouldn't be? His backpack that he left at the counter was gone!!
"Abis tu mcm mana kak? Kunci rumah saya, camera semua dalam tu!!! Ni bukan kali pertama berlaku. Dah dua kali!! Haritu barang saya hilang jugak!!" (So what now? All my things including the keys to my house and my camera are in there! This has happened twice to me!!)
The staff at the counter was speechless. They were looking high and low for his bag. One of them went to the back office to check the cctv camera. But alas! What could the camera tell? The guy who took it would have fled far from OU by that time.
When I went to the counter to pay for my items, he was still there. Walking to and fro, ranting his anger and frustration out loud. The lady at the cashier did very little to console him by saying "Mana akak tau.... Akak sibuk kat counter nih" (I don't know.. I 'm so busy at the counter). I pitied him... I bet he won't even step into the bookshop again after 2 unfortunate incident. If it were me... I wouldn't step into the shop after the first time!
It is very sad but true that some shops / departmental stores has this regulation of keeping your bags at the counter without securely keeping a watchful eye. The managers are so selfish in attending to their own security risks by asking customers to place their bags at the counter without placing proper security measures at these counters. In the end, the customers themselves are the victims.
I remember during my varsity days when we used to go for outings in Ipoh. One day, we went to this departmental store near Ipoh's big market. Bags are supposed to be kept at the counter at the supermarket. So after happily shopping for our ration, we found that Kin and Ainol lost their
bags! I remember Kin lost her cute little backpack while Ain lost something she had just bought from the ladies department. It was a long time before we did go there again. But lesson learnt, we never placed our bags at the counter.... We took turns to guard our stuff while the others went into the supermarket.
Come on lah! Some security lah please..... !!

WHAT'S COOKING?
I made trifle yesterday. Its actually a very very simple dessert to make. Took me only 30 minutes. Provided with the right swiss roll, you'll never go wrong making it. Tastes nice... nyum! nyum! I bought the wrong swiss roll yesterday... urgghhh... I bought Pandan swiss roll instead of the jam swiss roll.. darn! wrong move! (never settle for anything other than the best).
So here's how :
Ingredients:
1) 1 swiss roll (jam)
2) 2 tablespoons of custard powder
3) 1 tin of evaporated milk
4) 2 tablespoons of sugar
5) 1 tin of fruit cocktail
6) 1 box of jelly
How?
*note: Trifle consists of 4 layers i.e swiss roll, fruit cocktail, custard and jelly. Make sure that the serving bowl (like pyrex) that you choose is deep enough for these layers.
1) Cut the swiss roll (1.5cm thickness) and arrange them nicely in the bowl.
2) Sieve the syrup from the fruit cocktail. Add the fruit cocktail on the swiss roll.
3) Add the custard on top.*
4) Add the jelly layer**
* Custard - how ?
i) Mix the sugar and custard powder together with 3 - 4 tbsp of evaporated milk.
ii) Pour the rest of the evaporated milk into a pot. Heat on slow fire. Constantly stir.
iii) At boil point, add (i) into the pot. Constantly stir.
iv) Add some hot water if it becomes too thick.
** Jelly - how?
Read the instructions lah! heee... but reduce the amount of water i.e if the instructions say 2 glasses of water , reduce it to 1 3/4 glass.
Chill and huallaa... your trifle is ready to be served.
Trylah.... sedap nyum nyum....
ps: shall try pancakes tonight. shall tell you the results tomorrow!

ON BEING CARLESS
Kereta masuk workshop lagi aisey..... What to do... You drive carefully pun people langgar you from behind. It was Monday morning..and it was a police van! He was driving like very fast.... cilok sana cilok sini... mentang2lah polis! That does not warrant him to drive like that! It wasn't like he was trying to catch some bad guys or rushing to a crime scene. He was simply driving the van to the workshop to get the vehicle serviced.
Aiyaaa... The bump caused the bracket at the back of the car to be loose and slightly dented. OKlah... the cosmetic of the car wasn't that badly affected but still .... its gotta be repaired right? Now we're inconvinienced without the car. The fact that the car was only a few weeks newly painted was a blow to us.
Yesterday we went to work by LRT. Have you noticed how time flies fast when you're heading to work. Hee.. maybe coz I'm always half asleep / totally asleep most of the time. But when you're heading home, the ride seems so long (this applies to both LRT and car ride... come to think of it bus alsolah).
But the LRT back seemed quite short yesterday coz I was so busy talking to "long-lost-friend" Yong! "Long-lost" coz its seriously been a long time since I had a decent conversation with her. We were talking bout our gadgets... hers being da Erricson (refer to her blog to catch what model...can't remember) and mine (actually Khairul's) the Nokia
We were busy discussing the blue tooth & infrared technology and busy exchanging picture images via bluetooth that KLCC - Kelana Jaya felt like KLCC - KL Sentral.
So being carless has its "hikmah". I got the chance to catch up with Yong in person. I know we can get updates thru her blog as well... heee but nothing beats human interaction face to face... the tone of voice, facial expression and body language.
